HHavok is a small obscure label which put out 2 EPs, both by Positiv Noyz (who Discogs claims are actually several of the core members of Nebula II). I remember seeing lots of copies of HHavok001 around and grabbed that EP ages ago.. it’s a fun white label. But it was only a couple of years ago that I found a copy of the second HHavok. This second EP has 1 A side track (which is so-so), and 2 nice ragga hardcore tracks on the B side. The first B side track (“Unity”) has a kind of interesting clunky sounding amen and one of the most famous ragga basslines ever.
Note: I tried running the second track through a maximizer to beef it up a bit, so apologies if it sounds weird…
Positiv Noyz – Unity
Positiv Noyz – Social Living
These ones are killers! Great stuff.
anyway, do you know if this is the original track with that bassline?
this is definitely not the original source of that bassline… Original is a classic reggea/ragga track, which track though I’m not sure…
banging tune robbed the b line from ???? though
my god got it sl2 way in my brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sl2 way in my brain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bass line warped a bit
This is my Brother :o)
To Raul and the others asking, original tune is ‘under mi sleng teng’. It was allegedly the first use of synthesised bass in reggae and is sometimes credited with being the origin of the dancehall style. I’m feeling a bit too lazy to go hunt out my copy of Bass Culture, so I’ve gone for a wikipedia citation (sorry!)

This was my older brother Mark and his then music partner Tony Thomas. Both from Nottingham. Nice to see it on-line 🙂
