Cool Hand Flex – Lock Me Up

Here’s a great track by Cool Hand Flex, an artist who has got to be one of the most underrated from the pack of early 90’s hardcore/jungle producers. This is especially true given how prolific he was, both in writing his own tunes as well as engineering tunes on his label. This track in particular is one of his biggest, and was released on one of the Kickin x-pack comps as well as Hardcore Leaders II The nasty synth part in this tune is sampled from the techno classic Cybersonik – Technarchy, combined with a heavy break and a great main melody. While this doesn’t have the crazy chopped breaks of some of Flex’s other early tunes, it’s a total classic in my opinion.

  1. This has been on my iPod for a while and it’s an absolute classic. Cheers for putting it up. Quite right about Flex being underrated.

  2. This is a sound I have been looking for a long time!!!! Heard a mix around 91-92 with samples from Technarchy and a really fast drumbeat. The sound is very similar to this and it might be an alternative version. In the song i remember, there are also samples of a girl’s voice, you know whith one of these “whoop!” samples common at the time. if you know the song I am talking about, I would appreciate your help. sherpaunique@gmail.com
