Any time I flake on posting on this site for an extended period of time (more than 5 days or so), I try to post a personal fav or something a bit special when I pick it up again. Hopefully this tune counts; in my opinion, it’s one of the better hidden gems as far as early happy hardcore goes, and one I can’t remember EVER hearing anyone talk about / something I dredged up on my own. The fact that it’s a total one-off in terms of label and artist no doubt ads to the obscurity factor. As far as I know, this is the only released EP by DJ Destruction, however he was a regular DJ at events like Dreamscape and Helter Skelter back in 94/95.
“Rollin Stock” has that nice early hhc feel to it, where the euphoric and anthemy melody doesn’t get in the way of choppy amens (including a little edit swipe which I think is from Krome + Time “The License”?), long before everything got more straight 4-beat and trance-y. The flipside is a bit more solid 4/4 but also a great track, in-line w/ Vibes + Wishdokta / Impact Recs / other hhc stuff of that year. It’s also pretty cheap and easy to find, though if enough people find out about it that may change soon enough!
also a personal fav..
damn you pete…showing people my secret faves!!!

p.s. always felt an omni trio vibe from the first bit of this track.
