DJ Demo – Extreme EP

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but some of the best “hidden gem” hardcore/jungle tunes seem to be tracks which might get overlooked due to being labelled as happy hardcore – there simply aren’t nearly as many rare and in demand 94-95 happy hardcore tunes as there are jungle tracks. Here’s a perfect example of one of those…. Corrosive went on to do some really solid early (break driven) happy hardcore, yet this is still very much in the jungle realm to my ears: not a trace of 4 beat in sight, and the melody doesn’t have the kind of regressive bouncy ultra-happy sound to it that even some break driven happy hardcore ended up having 94-96 – (it’s much more in-line with the kind of piano you’d hear in 93).

DJ Demo did a number of great records on this label (which might be run by him as I think he features on almost every release), as well as later HHC on labels like Just Another Label. Also of note is that this record is engineered by Little Matt, aka the man like Optical who I’ve posted a few tracks by before.
