It’s pretty rare that I get to post tunes that were big enough to warrant videos on MTV, but here’s one.
“Family Foundation” were one of those acts that combine really poppy / almost eurodancey melodies and over the top female vox with jungle/hardcore breaks, ala Dream Frequency. This track was first (I think?) released on this white label in 91 under the name “Franschene”, but the versions on this EP are the ones that people probably know the best. It was hard to choose which mix of this to post, some of the others incorporate the melody from Kid N Play “2 Hype” to good effect… but this is the one that usually gets stuck in my head, both the synth and that “badboy sound” vocal repeating over and over. This tune probably contrasts sharply with a lot of the nuttier, low fi less melodic stuff I post, but it’s a big track that I even saw a house DJs drop not too long ago. Plus, it’s crazy cheap to pick up!
Family Foundation’s “One Blood” LP also has some good tracks on it, but is a bit harder to come by. I’ll leave that one for any of you to track down if you like this:
Family Foundation – Xpress Yourself (Jungle Techno Remix)
’92 hands in the air fodder at it’s finest! 🙂
What’s the chances of posting the Ragga Rave Mix too? 😉
will try to get around to it eventually
