Oral-X – Tribal Zone EP

I’ve got some spare time over the Holidays, so I figure it might be nice to post up a few releases that don’t have audio on the net anywhere. With this kind of music about 100x times more popular than it was when I was actively running this blog 10-15 years ago, and with tons of reissues (both vinyl and digital) of records I never would have thought in a million years would resurface, it feels less crucial for me to do writeups of the more populist stuff. Instead, let’s see if I can find some odds and ends that may have eluded people so far.

This “Tribal Zone” EP features a few fun tracks, most notably the “I’m a jungleist” one, where the vocals have gotten stuck in my head off and on since first getting it. Not going to argue this is the top anthem of 93, but it’s definitely got a sort of a “so wrong it’s right” quality to it. Kenny Ken played this one in a less well known tape years ago, but I doubt it got much (if any) other DJ play. The “Tribal Zone” tune is cool as well though, a bit more understated.
