Trix – The Way Back

Here’s a tune I’ve been playing on my net radio streams since I started a couple years ago, not sure if I’ve ever ID’d it though. At 7 minutes it might be more of a mixing track than something you want to listen to start-to-finish… however, I think it’s pretty fun and don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone else spin it or talk about it. The track is based on a classic break or two (my break knowledge is basically finished… need to take a refresher course soon) coupled with pitched up hip hop vocals, acid and that “more I get the more i want” sample (maybe by Lorraine Johnson?) as used in the Dr Skuf track of the same name… nothing too shocking sequencing-wise until 3 or 4 minutes in when the track slows down drastically, before speeding back up again. Maybe not the most crazy sequencing trick ever, but fun to hear in the midst of a set of otherwise similar tempo tracks.

The label this release is on was run by L-Double in conjunction with No Noise Recordings, which released some jammers like the Underground Frequency EP. Best on this sublabel was probably the Rhythm Ride EP by Mo2Vation , but seeing as I already posted that here’s a different EP which I also like. As for the artist, not sure if it’s the same Trix from Trix and Fascionate or someone else…
