Here’s a fun 92 track released on the label J4M, who put out Nebula 2 Flatliners and a few of the good Bass Ballistics EPs among others. No idea about the artist, it’s a bit strange though… despite not being that rare in terms of pressing size or demand, I almost never see this EP for sale. When it does show up for sale, it’s not exactly a pricey record though, so feel free to add it to your want list if you like this track. Not sure what to say about this one really, a few wacky samples plus a few of my favorite breakbeats: a really famous 60’s one used by Photek the name of which escapes me (someone please leave a comment so I can correct this), plus that famous Weather Report breakbeat I’ve mentioned on this site quite a few times. I’d love o know where the version used here originates from if anyone has an idea. In general though the production is pretty sharp on this, strong bass throughout, clear breaks and good rave melodies… well worth checking out IMO.
More Bass Than Fingers – Batfink
One of my favourite J4Ms! ‘Murderous’ on the flip is also killer.
BTW one of the layered breaks in this tune is that T.La.Rock drum machine & beatbox break from ‘Back To Burn’ @ 2.20: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozFbaEKLSXs
