Trigger – Stratosphere (Techno Mix)

Here’s a nab from my Cali trip… I already had a copy of this Trigger EP but couldn’t pass up a slightly better condition double for $1.00 (especially with that great picture sleeve staring at me!)

“Stratosphere” has got to be one of my favorite Belgian rave tracks of all time, without question. Despite being very much a Belgian tune synth wise, the breakbeat is quite prominent in it (Assembly Line break layered with a grunt most likely taken from Erik B & Rakim “Let The Rhythm Hit Em”, as used in Trip To The Moon 3). The little vocal breaks and classic Belgian synths are great as well, shame it gets a bit jazzy towards the end, but still an absolutely tuff tune and must-nab.
The artists behind it (Geoff McCoy and Dino Majore) also did the classic Destroyer – “Senses”.

  1. I used to play this back in ’91. Total stormer. This song killed it! You gotta love the Mike of Magnesia sample. I used to have a bunch of people asking who this was.
