Here’s a track I’ve had in my “secret dj stash” for a while, probably time to share though. “Blow your Mind” might not sound that special to fans of the crazy choppy jungle tracks posted here, but it’s something which in my estimation is a lot rarer than that: an obscure-as-hell tune which is also really catchy and almost sounds like it could have been a well known anthem had things worked out differently. There seem to be a lot less of these type of tunes left around unknown than the random crazy “happy accident” noisy tunes (which I also obviously like a lot). In fact, most of these small-label anthemy ones seem to end up pretty sought after: the “new science” ep, “deeper”, mainstream ep, etc. Others might disagree, but I’d definitely put this one up with some of those tunes: the pianos and classic Weather Report breakbeat (as used by DJ Hype) are just too too good! No idea why it never saw wider release, I know it does say it’s promo only and never saw full release.
I’m posting the instrumental since I’m not a big fan of the vocals on the original, which means it does get a bit repetitive. But still, awesome track well worth checking.
Random Vibration – Blow Your Mind (Instrumental Mix)
Great tune this 🙂
absolutely love this one!
Lovely gem from the crates. The best thing about your blog is that it doesn’t settle on one style but goes through the spectrum. Keep up the good work 🙂
thanks, I try to keep it varied within the range of stuff from back then, varying it from post to post. It’s my 4th year running this site, so I might be running out of steam a bit by now if I was only posting 94 amen smashers or tunes top buzz played in their NYE 91/92 set 🙂
