Origination – R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Remix

Here’s an easy to find one by Origination, AKA Photek and Lexis. The first Origination single “Breakdown” is pretty in demand, but I see this slightly later single all the time and for cheap – not sure why, as it’s still a great single. The “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.” remix here is wicked, pretty similar to the original with the same hook consisting of the Aretha Franklin “respect” vocal combined with a snippet from Siedah Garret – “K.I.S.S.I.N.G.”. The break is from the classic James Brown “give it up or turnit loose”, a pretty underused one. Other tracks on the EP are also solid, making this 5 tracker a worthy grab for sure.

  1. One of the all time classic hardcore e.p’s. Heard every track on various DJ’s sets. The real classic on this release however is Sensation. Very ahead of its time and only really played by Grooverider and Fabio.

  2. Ah yeah Sensation is a good one as well, RESPECT remix is my pick from having it etched in my head from some old set with MC GQ (I think) saying “… and listen to this!” over the crazy synth breakdown. Dunno why but that part always stuck with me.
