Naughty Naughty – Free

Here’s a great B-side I had on vinyl for years and never really appreciated, until hearing it at the start of this Fabio tape I was biking around to a lot this fall (thanks deep inside the oldskool for posting it!). Funny how listening to a track all those times can make it stick in your head, certainly explains how so many of the most in-demand tunes are the smaller pressing ones from popular mixtapes.

According to discogs info, it seems like this is most definitely NOT the “Naughty Naughty” who did a great alternate version of the Korgi’s “Need Your Lovin” (posted elsewhere on this site). It makes sense since this sounds pretty different from that track and those EPs, aside from some big well known samples it’s a bit deeper and more in-line with Rugged Vinyl 93 tunes than the NN series. Great stuff though!

  1. IIRC, this Naughty Naughty was 1/2 of SMF who also several tunes on Rugged Vinyl. Good tune, but I like the A-side track more!

  2. Nice Tune! I like that breakdown at 1:58. Thanks for the Upload Pete! Gonna have to get this one on vinyl!

  3. Both sides are interesting but rather DJ unfriendly with long intros and timing issues. The D.O.P.E releases are probably my favourite from this label.

  4. ah didn’t notice if the beats got off time, definitely a lengthy intro but sounds good in the start of that mix I posted above. The DOPE releases are def some of the best on there, though the Intense ones might be my top favs (those or SMF “guillotine”). Calyx “fallout / venom” was a later fav from 98.

  5. Big up the guy that sold me the Fabio tape at a local bootfair for less than 50p so i could rip it and post it to Deepinsidetheoldskool 🙂
