Formation Records churned out a fair number of darker tunes between 92 and 94, but this is one of the best – the sinister pitch shifted beats layered with the Blowfly – Sesame Street break (as used in “Helicopter Tune”) and a 4/4 kick make this track choppy but solid, great for mixing or home listening. Add some simple but effective pads and you’ve got a nasty slice of ’93 darkside. In fact, this whole remix EP is great, as is is the original – it was tough to pick just one track to post from these, but this remix is a personal favorite.
International Rude Boyz – Paragone Remix
I believe the International Rudeboyz tunes were actually by Matrix, who sent a demo to DJ SS and then found his tunes released under a different name. I’m pretty certain I read this somewhere before.
ah, interesting, thanks for pointing that out… I’m not sure whether it was a collab or Matrix just doing the tunes, so I changed it to not refer to DJ SS.
What a great track it still sounds as fresh now as it did then!! This has got to be one of my favourite blog sites!!!
