TDK – Hype Time

Here’s two nice tunes for friday by TDK, someone who was strongly affiliated with Bizzy B / the Brain Records crew. The first track is from 93 but actually sounds much more like a 94 tune… decent atmospherics, choppy breaks, smooth without being corny, tasty and tasteful stuff.
The second track (“Hype Time”), I finally bought maybe 5 years ago after seeing copies around everywhere and even finding one in my hometown of Boston (where there’s no oldschool vinyl) for mega-cheap – either this had a really large pressing, or people REALLY avoid this single. Eitherway, it’s a shame since “Hype Time” is a nice 95 jam. An assortment of quality breaks (Think,Cold Sweat, Life Could/Panther), simple bass + good hip hop snippet might not break down barriers of sound, but they definitely make for a solid ruff jungle track. The triplet think break part at 2:42-2:52 pretty much makes the track for me. “Hype Time” is also available as the B side on This EP, which is similarly cheap and easy to find. I’ve got both copies but haven’t A/B’d them, pretty sure they’re exactly the same track though. Either way, if you like this you can grab it for mega-cheap, so check it out!
