Not sure if this tune even is classified as hardcore, or more uk hiphop w\/ heavy breakbeats…. either way it’s a fun little jam! Recorded at Monroe Productions, but not engineered by Pete Parsons (otherwise I’m guessing the beatwork would be quite a bit more advanced!) Starting with the MC asking “whatever happened to ‘watch your bassbins I’m teling ya’????!” (referring to the classic altern-8 sample), the track throws in a few classic breakbeats useed in hardcore (one most famously in Nebula 2 “Atheama”, the other I swore was a 2 bad mice one but I can’t seem to locate it now…) and a snippet from from Snap! “Do you see the light” (as used in a number of hardcore tunes). It’s possible this is the same MC Valentine from this Blapps Posse release<\/a>, unfortunately I don’t own that record so I can’t say for certain. If anyone has it, feel free to compare the vocals on this tune to that EP and let me know. There’s maybe one or two other tracks on here that use similarly up-tempo breaks, the rest are more standard hiphop speed if I remember right. Nothing too crazy, but a fun obscurity for fellow anoraks who check this blog.
