<\/a>\nSwift And Zinc – A Musical Box<\/a>
Here’s some serious 93 grimey hardcore\/jungle, which also happens to be the first release by the mighty DJ Zinc (of “Fugees or not”, “Reach Out”, “138 trek”, countless other tunes plus Rinse FM head honcho). This record, as well as the other SAZ bits, were done by Zinc alongside Swift, who did some great early singles on labels like Sub Base. Recorded at Bizzy B’s studio and released in conjunction with Brain Recordings, this is definitely a tune for grimey oldskool heads and fans of that label’s sound. A children’s TV sample leads into 8 bit amiga-pache breaks, hip hop vocal cuts and scratch bits all layered up with weighty sub bass. There’s a fair variety of samples popping in and out, though there’s never all that much going at once, leaving plenty of room for the bass. This tune definitely sounds a bit rough around the edges compared to the later Swift and Zinc singles, but it’s still a classic rough hardcore tune not too far from jams on Bogwoppa and the early Brain stuff. <\/p>\n
