Krome + Time are definitely one of my favorite acts from 92-95, but I haven’t posted tracks by them since their early stuff is mostly on Suburban Base (which you should go buy immediately as mp3 on Jungle.co.uk<\/a> or as used vinyl Discogs\/Ebay<\/a>. Not many artists managed to continue to churn out anthems as this music mutated from early hardcore to jungle, but Krome + time did just that – from early tunes as Kromozone + Serotonin in 91, through “If you don’t know this you’re not a real hardcore fan” 92 tunes like “This Sound is For the underground” and “The Slammer”, to their “proto techstep 3-5 years early” track “Virtual Reality” in 93, and continuing through to their massive choppy 95 anthems “The License” and “Ganja Man”. This is one of the few early tracks released on a non-Suburban Base related label, and was done in conjunction with Ellis Dee (see: the Rhythm Section tune I posted last). It’s a great straightahead choppy amen number, maybe not as anthemic as a lot of their other tunes but absolutely killer and lead by two hook samples – a bit from a Tracy Chapman song (“another sleepless night for me”) posted below, and a classic hiphop sample (“Drum Thunder Got Ya!”) which I can’t remember the source for… anybody know that one?
