Just saw this posted on facebook… I’m definitely a fan of the intersection of early videogame and early hardcore/jungle stuff (either video game sounds in hardcore tracks, or videogame soundtracks that border on rave)… can’t say I was a huge Ridge Racer fan back in the day, but this soundtrack does a pretty good job munging together motifs from a number of classic oldskool tracks with even more low-fi videogame-esque samples and synthesis…. Enjoy, since it’s only a matter of time before tumblr kiddies appropriate this for their own nefarious means!

Both Nintendo and Sega toyed around with jungle sounds back then. Check out Nintendo’s 1080 Snowboarding soundtrack on Youtube for an example.

The PS1 game Olympic Soccer has an excellent, rave-influenced soundtrack, with the disc playable in a music cd player.
