Krazy Kid & Uncle – Dick Turpin Remix

More crazy 92 sounds… De Underground and their associated labels did quite a few releases which as a whole are a bit underrated in comparison to other labels’ output at the time. Rather than going for simple cheesy piano anthems, a lot of their earliest tunes had strange sanmples, raw production, and in general are NOT the tracks you’d hear in a “now THAT’S what I call oldskool!” type set of 92 classics. That’s not to say there aren’t some more friendly tunes in their catalog (“lock me up”,”your risk”, etc), but for everyone of those tracks, there’s a few totally crazy tunes like this one, made by Uncle 22 and some unidentified other producer. Weird buzzy synth, vocal samples from Hardnoise and that “Come With It!” sample as used in Moog – Jungle Muffin, plus the defining sample: a horse sound that loops over and over, before getting pitched up. When talking about the “anything goes” approach to sampling in hardcore, nothing sums it up quite like some producers sitting in a studio thinking “what this dance music tune really needs is a horse whinny sound over and over”. Wouldn’t have it any other way!

  1. This, is awesome….I love how the horse sample & the drums work together. This song just made my wait for today’s Dr Who episode feel a little less long.

  2. Excellent track. Makes me wanna do my horse jockey ‘Giddy up’ dance. I probably shouldn’t of just mentioned that…..
