Redlight – Selekta

SERIOUS 95 amen toonage here by the crew known as SHUT UP AND DANCE on their ragga jungle sublabel Red Light. The sublabel is probably best known for the classic track “bastards”, though there’s a number of other great tracks on the label. I can’t quite place the intro music to this one, swear it’s from some classic movie I love like Rosemary’s Baby… anyone know it? Regardless eventually it gives way, the vocal drops, and absolutely MASSIVE overdriven bass kicks in along with well chopped amens. I can imagine this one going over just as well now as the day it was written, just clean catchy sequencing, a few elements all working together well.

  1. The only one I havent got. Its noticeably different than the rest of the label’s output too. Far less crazy and ramshackle…

  2. really? still sounds pretty mental to me! I don’t know the others as well but thought “sensi” and “roots rock reggae” were pretty chill in comparison?
